I am a self-taught artist, working mainly on a commission basis. I do sometimes work in other mediums, but I am most comfortable with graphite.

All of my portraits involve working from photographs. I often use multiple photographs to achieve the finished result. The photos can be sent to me via email, or I can accept them through the post - although please consider the risk of doing this if you only have one copy as unfortunately I cannot guarantee their safety in the postal system. 

For the best results, the reference images need to be of excellent quality. Please do have a look at the photography tips page for more information on this - I have also included examples of good and not-so-good reference photos. Of course, often the subject of the portrait is no longer with us, so sometimes it's not possible to take any additional photographs. Please get in touch to discuss this, I may still be able to help you - although I will always be honest if I'm not confident that I can produce the quality outcome that you're looking for.

Once I have all the relevant images, and you are happy with the quote, I require a 50% deposit to be sent over, via Paypal or bank transfer, to secure your space in my diary. If I am combining multiple photographs of different subjects, it's at this point that I will send you a digital mock up of the layout for you to confirm. Before making a booking and paying a deposit, I advise you to go and have a read of my portrait terms and conditions.

Once complete, I will send you a photograph of the finished piece for you to check that you're happy. If any adjustments need to be made, I would be happy to oblige. Then, once you are completely happy, I will require the remaining balance before I pack and post your artwork.

All artwork is sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, insured for the cost of the piece. You will be given tracking information for this. Occasionally, if you are local, I do offer the option of delivering the artwork personally.
