These unique and personal plant pots start life as a standard terracotta pot. I currently offer them in one size - which can vary slightly as I source pots from several places, but I will always advise you of this when receiving your inquiry. If you would like a different shape or size of pot, please feel free to contact me to discuss this as I would be happy to accommodate anything that is possible. Although please note, smaller pots would not reduce the price as they usually take the same amount of time to produce.
Any imperfections on the pots are filled and sanded, before being primed and then spray painted in a background colour of your choosing. You can opt for a solid colour background, or a simple design or pattern. This could be in a complementary metallic paint, or a co-ordinating colour. I am happy to help choose the best colour combinations for the subject.
Once the background is complete, I lovingly hand paint the portrait of your pet in acrylics onto it. The pot is then varnished in your choice of either a satin or glossy finish to ensure the paint is protected.
These bespoke pots make lovely keepsakes, they are perfect for honouring current pets, or memorialising those no longer here. They also make very thoughtful gifts for the animal lovers in your life.
As with my pencil portraits and portrait baubles, I will need a good quality photograph in order to paint your pot. I do offer postage, but please contact me for an up to date quote for this prior to ordering. Due to their delicate nature, they must be extremely well packaged and only sent by a recorded and insured service. Alternatively, I can deliver for the cost of fuel (distance depending), or I can organise collection from me in either Birmingham or Wolverhampton.
Please note: these plant pots are intended for indoor use only, and I always advise using a plastic pot to line them when used for real plants. Although I always use high quality paints and a UV resistant varnish, I still recommend keeping the pot out of direct sunlight and out of extreme temperatures. To clean them, please use a soft, lightly damp cloth and allow to dry afterwards.
